Hebron Airport Open House

flyer     The Hebron Airport is hosting a ribbon cutting, open house, and free hamburger supper on October 9, 2018. We are celebrating the completion of $1,000,000 in projects that included a new credit card fuel system and replacement of the concrete taxi-ways and apron around the hangers.

Schedule of Events:

9:00 – 4:00 p.m. Aircraft display & Business Open House  – see below for exhibitor information

10:30, 12:45 & 1:30 p.m.  Norris HotLine Demo  (morning times to be announced)

2:15 p.m.   – Mock Emergency Drill with Medical Helicopter Landing – Conducted by LifeSave Transport Helicopter and Hebron Fire Volunteers.  

Ribbon cutting: 4:30 p.m. with recognition of Marlowe Huber for 24 years on the Airport Authority Board.  Marlowe will be retiring from the board in January 2019.   He is an active pilot flying with the Blue Valley Flying Club. 

Free public Hamburger Fry: Kirkham Michael, engineering company on the airport construction projects,  is sponsoring the food for the hamburger fry at 5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. or until food runs out.   Hebron Rotary members will be flipping burgers and assist with serving.


Business Open House & Public Displays:    9 a.m. – 4:30  p.m.     The public and area schools are invited to view aircraft and talk with business owners about the various aspects of aviation in their businesses. See the list of exhibitors below.

RotorWings Aviation –  helicopter spraying business operated by Kevin & Mindy Mitchell.   Kevin sprays  locally and across the nation.   The couple have opened a Robinson Helicopter Service Center, and offer other pilot services.  Kevin also flies for LifeSave Transport, a medical emergency service and will be participating in the Mock Emergency Drill at 2:15 p.m., unless the helicopter is called into action for a medical emergency.  

Wiedel Ag Products – Andrew Wiedel, is another local new entrepreneur .   Andrew  will share about his chemical business, and provide chemical safety information.

CMK Aerial – Marty Ostrander will display his spray planes and discuss the need for pilots in the chemical spraying profession, as well as opportunities available to young pilots.

Silverhawk Aviation – Mechanics with avionics skills are being recruited across the aviation industry.    Silverhawk is sharing their mechanical technicians to share how their skills impact the aviation industry.   Students will want to stop by and learn what skills are needed for this career!

Kirkham Michael – Engineering plans for the construction projects were developed by Kirkham Michael.   This firm is graciously sponsoring the evening meal.   Tiffany Thompson, engineer, will share her experiences as a commercial pilot and how drones are used in their engineering business.   Tiffany has great footage that she can share with students and the public on her large screen television display.  

M.E.Collins Contracting – This Wahoo based company was the contractor for the updates to the taxi-ways and apron on the airport.  Staff will be available to talk with public and youth about their business, and learn about career education and employment opportunities.  

Riley Templin, pilot – Riley obtained his pilots license while in high school.   He will be available to talk with youth and the public about his enthusiasm for flying and getting a pilots license. 

OZsome Possibilities Counseling  – JennaLee Harris is a new counselor opening her business in an office on the airport grounds.    Stop in to meet this energetic young woman and learn about her medical background, education, and new practice in family counselling.

ATV Rollover Trailer – The Thayer County Extension Office is sponsoring the ATV Rollover Trailer.  This interactive trailer requires youth to be over 14 year old to ride the ATV.    Participants will learn safety aspects of ATV riding.   

LifeSave Transport –  Medical Helicopter and KingAire Plane – this emergency medical service will display their helicopter and plane, as well as sharing information on flight nursing and aviation careers.     The display during the day is subject to availability, as the helicopter is on stand by for emergency services.    The helicopter will participate in the mock emergency drill at 2:15 p.m.

Blue Valley Flying Club,  Todd Merryman, and Dave Remmers, and Jerry Littrel  – their planes will be displayed, along with discussion about how to join a flying club, licensing, costs, and other fun information about aviation.   This is your chance to see an airplane up close and maybe grab your picture by the cockpit!

Norris Public Power – is bringing their High Electrical Line demonstration trailer.   Watch this live demonstration of what happens when a squirrel, tree branch, or ice storm causes power problems.   You will be able to see a live electrical arc that is impressive and scary at the same time.     Lineman can share about the skills required to become an NPPD lineman.   

Nebraska State Patrol – will be displaying their helicopter and staff will be available to talk with youth about careers in law enforcement.  The “Seatbelt Persuader” trailer will be onsite for youth and public interaction.   The helicopter display is also on stand-by,  pending emergency call out.  

Norder Agri-Services – Andrew Vrbka will present information on precision agriculture and GPS. Steve Tietjen will present on anhydrous safety.

Ray’s IT Services – Local IT specialist Ray Wright will share how he utilizes drones in his computer business.   Ray has a very practical application of drone aerial photography for the Thayer County Assessor’s  website information which will interesting to learn about.

Dageforde Farms – will be supplying the beef for the hamburger fry at 5:00 p.m.   This omega-enriched beef is 95% lean.   Flax is fed in the feedlot the last 90-120 days prior to butchering which raises the omega 3’s and amino acids.   Check out the Dageforde Farms Meat Truck with freezers of beef and jerky available for sale!
